Whether they're new or have many years of exhibiting experience, artists who get the most out of DallasArtsRevue Memberships are those who show their work — and let us know when they do.
Member pages are a great opportunity to be seen
by people who matter — our readers, many of whom are art professionals,
curators and exhibition organizers. Many members have been invited into shows
and galleries simply because a curator or gallerist saw their work here.
Send us info about your exhibitions or sales events and attach an image.
DARts Members who exhibit work and send us all the pink box info, so we can list their showings in our robust and detailed calendar and link your names to your member pages, succeed at this game better than those who just let their pages sit there.
Active members get more hits on their member pages, too.
We still appreciate those who just send us money but let their member pages just sit there with art they did sometime in the last century, but updated member pages make it a lot more interesting for everybody, including The Editor.
The purpose of this endeavor is to support this website
and to get you and your art known to more people.
When you have a show, let us know all about it, so we can help you promote it. That promotion will drive visitors to your pages. And that increased popularity will help you be more easily Googled.

acrylic on canvas 40 x 30 inches
The best part of doing this site is that I get to see new art by really good artists. And sometimes I get to update a member's page with work that blows me away. I put either the newest member's work, the member with the newest work or the work I like best that I've seen in awhile here on top of this very popular page. So very glad some DallasArtsRevue Supporting Members still update their pages sometimes. I try to make it worth their while.
DallasArtsRevue is financially supported by the artists of Dallas, Texas and other places. Each pays $100 for the first year and gets six images on their Member Page, and $75 each additional year, with one additional image per year. Artists with member pages have been contacted by curators and gallerists to participate in exhibitions, and a few have even had solo shows because their work wes seen here.
See How to Join info below or the simple How to Join page. Then there's the complex How to Join page that will tell you everything you will need to know to be an active and participating member of DallasArtsRevue.com
All artwork on this site is copyright 2011 or before by the originating artist. No reproduction or approximation of these works may be created in any medium for any use without specific written permission from the artist. Please do not copy the art. Make your own.

Member-page JPEGs made by The Editor may now be used elsewhere free …
I have finally evolved a significant change in my policy for your other uses of the free photographs of your work that I make for your member pages: You may now use them anywhere online if, and only if, you include a legible credit immediately adjacent (over, under or along the side) to the image stating: "DallasArtsRevue.com photo by J R Compton."
This offer is only to bona fide, paid-up current
Supporting Members of DallasArtsRevue. Reproduction of full-resolution image
files in sizes larger than the 777 (for horizontal images) or 555 pixels wide
(for vertical images), standard Member Page size will still be negotiable, but
I am not seeking to make any profit on these endeavors. I would much rather have
credit to this publication.
We urge any Dallas artist — and extra especially DallasArtsRevue Supporting Member — to send us calendar information — including shows, talks or participation in community (your art on a wall, online, on TV, radio or wherever, please let us know. See the Community section of our growing Art Calendar to see the wide variety of information about Dallas-area artists we provide.
To get a calendar listing for Dallas-area artists showing in Dallas or anywhere else, either carefully parse the information according to our specifications in the pink box below OR email your info to Anna, and she'll put it in the right order. Pink-box-compliant notices go in almost immediately. Others take awhile.
Member News is on the Calendar Page
where members' listings are marked by a member notation. Members
who send, event and news information to our
latest email address on the Contact Us page
are linked every chance we get. The more links that point to you or
your member page here, the more likely it is that people who google your name
will find you online.
We
have seriously updated our very popular
(third most popular of all our pages) Schools & Classes
& Galleries page, and if you, or if you know anybody who
offers art-related classes in North Central Texas or teaches at a school
we haven't listed yet, we want to list all of them on that page.

Nice
as it is to
have so many members join and not bother having a member page,
I really dig having new
work on this site that I did not pick. Please, if at all possible,
do your dada duty and send me six recent images for your member
pages. If you make them a couple megs each, that would be about
perfect. Please name each by your name and title only. Either attach them
to an email (all in one is good) or send me a CD. Either way,
send full-resolution, full-sized images of at least a megabyte each, and do not
sharpen them.

NEW MEMBERS
All
the gritty-nitty details about joining DallasArtsRevue are on the
new and simplified How
to Join page.
(with
no snide references, curmudgeonly comments or brusque
barbs)
If you find even that page difficult, no problem. Email Anna at graphicanna@sbcglobal.net and she will be happy to make it easy to join.
Send checks made out to J R Compton to

If you are up to it, the Editor strongly suggests you read the page of everything you'll ever need to know about joining & participating in DallasArtsRevue, because it contains all that information you need to understand what we expect from you and why.
Meanwhile, this Members Index page always has the latest DallasArtsRevue info, like J R's latest offer [below] to let you use free member page pictures elsewhere, including online, if you credit them immediately adjacent to the image in legible type: "DallasArtsRevue.com photo by J R Compton"

Free Photos for Member Pages
If you join DARts as a Supporting Member, my photographs of your work for your DARts Membership web page are free. All you have do is set up an appointment on an afternoon when the sun in shining. If you live close, I'll visit you. If you're farther away, you can bring your work here or we'll set something up. It only ever takes a few minutes.
There may be a few more details about the process of me taking photographs of your work that you'll need or want to know, for that check out the Photograph Your Work section of the How to Join DallasArtsRevue page linked just below.
Note: Part of my delight in having Supporting Member is the opportunity to show new work by some of the best and most diverse artists in Dallas. Let me photograph your most recent work to keep your pages up to date.
Read the whole (it tells you everything you'll need to know) How to Support DallasArtsRevue.com page or just the new, easy instructions (in purple) to get your DARts Membership started.
E-mail me if your work on your page hasn't changed in awhile. I often want to show new work by members here and on the cover, and I'm much more inclined to do that if I get to show recent work. I appreciate your financial support, but it's great joy to show off interesting new work on these pages by Dallas artists.
Thanks,
J R Compton
The Easy Way to Send Calendar Information Send your information in this precise order, in one paragraph, in the text of an email: Show title, names of all artists in the show in paragraph form separated by commas [but with "and" before the last one], gallery name, opening times, date, month, through closing month date (not year) Use the following example for your submission:
Your submission must include names of all artists in the show. DO NOT USE ALL CAPS. No abbreviations anywhere. Include address only if the art space is new to DallasArtsRevue. We list area art spaces on our Art Space Information page. Attach up to a 5 x 7-inch JPEG of art that is in your show — with caption in the following order:
Do not include any punctuation or spacebar spaces in image file names. Send all information in the text of an email to graphicanna@sbcglobal.net Thanks, |

Members without pages are not linked. Some members simply want to support this site, and others haven't got around to getting their work photographed. Some put that experience off for years. It's certainly easier for me that way, but I miss having new artists showing new work that I didn't pick.
Resubscribing members are eligible to have one additional image on their page each time they resubscribe within their old subscription period.
The Site Map lists + links most of the 1200+ DARts pages.
