Zach and Greg Metz - U.S. Peace Initiative
50 x 68 x 6 inches
DARE founder, much-admired teacher and art activist Greg Metz and his then seven-year-old son, Zack, created this wonderful, three-dimensional piece of political commentary during the first Gulf War. Zach drew it, then Greg made it big, beautiful and fully three-dimensional.
I got the sardonically titled U.S. Peace Initiative while Kamikazee Shopping at the Bozo Ball in 1991, for $300 — a pittance and fraction of its true value — I never expected to get it, but I liked putting my name at the top of the bid list — because the i.d. card for it was hidden on the end of a far wall. I was sure someone would outbid me. But they didn't.
So far, only one other Greg Metz piece is in this illustrated catalog of my art, the Who's Really Polluting poster.
