I've always liked the delicate, often partially glowing, just-so compositions of Nancy Ferro. But this isn't one. This simple, worn, aged cardboard hand, which just happens to have a Lone Star rising above the architectural drawing shapes of our favorite art museum, seems — like that institution, to have its hand out, perpetually pan-handling for donations. A simple, but replete free-standing art object. This piece may have been a thank you for the poster I created for one of her exhibitions.
