J R's Art Collection
My good friend, the late, nationally- recognized poet, illustrator par excellence and prodder, Gerald Burns painted this 22 x 28-inch canvas while I wrote a script for my mid-80s radio show, The Dallas Arts Kazoo, in what is now the dining room of my home.
The five-minute program of Dallas art news, views and reviews, usually took about an hour to write, on my Kaypro computer, which was set up in my dining room, just as you see it here.
I'm not always as loose stroked and painterly as in this picture, but everything else, including the table full of plants in the front window, behind me and to the left, is exactly as it was. Gerald was always a stickler for the truth.
