J R's Art Collection

Georgia Stafford is another one of those artists I assumed would go far. Unfortunately, she killed herself the week before her 30th birthday, after a long and unhappy life marked with depression, epilepsy and other serious maladies. Her life and work is detailed in one of my best stories, Stuck In A World Not My Own.

In this large painting, she shows a child and her doll, lost in a dark blue ocean. Georgia painted it while she was a CETA artist in residence at the City of Dallas, who did not appreciate her political views.
