poetry by Michael Helsem
The thirst for lies is like the desire for change
Except despair not hope stands watch in the crow’s-nest.07 21 04
Facecrime
High hysteric decade
Nearing the limit
And liberty’s last breathNot much left for art
Except the art of deathUranium vap
Sifts down; in our veins slub
Since the demons cameOr was it star Algol
Tugged up this grave tideAnd we wait until time
Grants a new meaning
To the hole and the char04 20 04
According to the Will of God
The warning on his desk unheeded,
Bush went fishing. Plans succeeded
Both to break a tyrant’s crown,
And to bring an empire down.04 13 04
You were right to hurt me
Since you had a bad dayPain must travel
Fish gotta fly
And we will be crushedLike the night snail
My feet found on the path03 19 04
Nigerian Haiku
Huge sum of money
Old pond & olive waters
The walls of Lagos02 19 04
