There is a storm blowing in, here and now.

The sun is fading away in the mid-afternoon. The frogs are calling like never before. I can hear vittatus and femoralis, two forms of tricolor, and ocassionally the ebbracatas break loose with their duck like quack.

Normally the Hyla ebbractas call at night, but with this big storm looming. The barometric pressure is changing and I can feel it.

The radio is full of angry people wanting to go to war and people angry about going to war. I had to turn it off earlier and put on some soothing music, but it didn't help.

Eventually I found seclusion here in the frogroom for a few notes and the feelings of nature.

War must be natural, but nature is... not war.

This storm is ominous. The frogs are calling. I'm writing you.

What the hell are we doing?

Spring came a month ago and went away.
The dogtooth lillys were burned by the ice.
Spring came a week ago.
The sky turned dark on Monday,
but the storm never came.
It is cold here today.
I turned the heaters back on,
and will turn the radio back on soon.
Soon the frogs will be calling again..
Will we ever loose our innocence?
Or is that what we are doing, now?

Suddenly it is getting dark again.
The sun goes down here again.
Evening falls again.
No bombs will fall here tonight.
And it is daylight there tonight.
My frogs are safe.
as safe as I can make them.
We're safe tonight.

March 22

Quiet here.
Quite nice here tonight.
It is a near perfect evening.
The day has been bright for
those ...living ...here.

March 23

Only a few days have passed,
and I wonder how many lives.
Clouds are passing over here today.
The sun is hidden here today.
My frogs love being here today.
They have plenty of food and no war.
In the frogroom rain came early today.
Their songs are of love and passion.
My songs are of quiet protest.
