The Tradition Continues for
the 19th year!
FREE, Self-paced Art Studio Tour
Mark your calendars for the 19th annual White Rock Lake Artists’ Studio Tour.
You've seen art at museums, galleries and fairs. Now visit the art and the artists in their special studio spaces, the places where art "happens" and comes alive. This legendary Dallas Art Event opens doors to art studios, large and small, tucked into neighborhoods around White Rock Lake. This Do Not Miss Event provides an opportunity for the public to discover the tools and techniques of art and to marvel at the place (the studio) every artist has developed in order to create. Behold art in all stages of completion.
Talk to artists about their work and inspiration. Wonder at the use of found objects, metal, paint, clay, encaustic, wood, stone, paper, fibers, photography, glass and more. Catch a glimpse of a weaving loom in motion, a potter's wheel turning, or a painting in its beginning stage.
This Art Studio Tour has grown in size and importance since 1992, when six artists in the White Rock Lake area opened their studios to the public for one weekend in October. The mission, then and now, continues to highlight where and how art is created by local artists in neighborhood settings. In 2011, the Tour will include 52 artists and the 39 studios they work within.
The Tour also features five local art centers and schools with special exhibits and open doors to their facilities.
The White Rock Lake Artists’ Studio Tour has grown to be a true Dallas legend and a model for other studio tours that have popped up around the Metroplex. We, the artists, invite you to come again this year — or for the first time. Our free, self-guided Tour is open to all ages and to anyone with an interest in art. Maps and details will be available at the Bath House Cultural Center, the Creative Arts Center and at other area businesses.
Or download a map at the Tour website: www.WhiteRockArtists.com eventually.
