Rosemary Pierce-Lackey 232 Rolls of
Color 2009
assemblage wall sculpture 20 x 49 inches
This sculpture is made from upcycled paper coin rolls. It was quite a labor of love as I prepared and hand painted each one individually before gluing to the wood backing. When I look at it, I see a waterfall effect of rolling color.

Pierce-Lackey Symphony 3 2008
mixed media on wood 36 x 36 inches
This work was created using repurposed old book pages (circa 1952), each individually painted with abstract layers of paint, then cut in various pieces, creating a mosaic of raised color on the black painted wood panel. The whole piece is covered in a very thick coat of high gloss lacquer which creates an incredibly rich effect.

Pierce-Lackey Colorwave No3 2009
wood wall sculpture 26 x 40 inches
This sculpture is created from individually painted upcycled wood pieces (cut and sanded by me). The effect makes me think of color traveling much like sound waves through the atmosphere.

Pierce-Lackey Lyrical Circles 2008
mixed media wall sculpture 34 x 46 inches
This wall sculpture is created from recycled laminated pressed board circles, each hand painted with a unique abstract layering of color. The circles were coated in thick high gloss lacquer then attached to 2 inch deep small wooden boxes for hanging. The effect is an almost free floating of colorful circles on the wall. I found this work to be playful and free-ing as it required me to let go of tight structure and embrace the loose nature of the art.

Rosemary Pierce-Lackey, Refraction 2008
mixed media on wood panel 24 x 24 inches
This mixed media work is created from many cut scraps of recycled paper materials applied to a wood panel, then coated in thick high gloss lacquer. I found a great sense of curiosity in watching the art develop one piece at a time. The final product was like a surprise, the result of the parts creating the whole.

Pierce-Lackey Bamboo in Multicolor No4 2009
bamboo wall sculpture 24 by 76 inches
I came across some bamboo I thought would be nice to recycle into art. One night I had a dream in which I saw colored bamboo lined up around me. I woke up, and started working (in my pajamas) cutting and painting and gluing to create a wall sculpture of color-infused bamboo pieces. 'Bamboo in Multicolor No4' is a commissioned piece over 6 feet long created from the Bamboo Series. The whole piece is covered in a coat of high gloss lacquer creating a wonderfully rich finished product.

About Rosemary Pierce-Lackey
Art has always been my passion, a private fuel for energy and clarity. However, when I was young I kept my art to myself, never having the benefit of an art class and never allowing myself to reveal my true desires.
One day, after many years of success in a high-stakes, high-stress business, my soul continued to be unsettled and I finally said..."If not now, then when?" and I took a huge leap of faith. Thankfully my parachute opened and it has been a wonderful ride.
Today I am a full-time professional (self-taught) sculptor and mixed media artist. I am truly humbled and forever grateful for the interest and appreciation in my work. I am based in Dallas, Texas but have had the pleasure of having my work collected internationally.
Every day is an exploration through life that results in a personal way in my art. It's who I am.
About my ArtworkArt, to me, is a free-fall — a submission, a release, boundless and open. Its the removal of intellectual analysis and preconceived barriers; an opening to the reality behind the door.
My artwork is a continually evolving and fluid motion. Like life, it requires embracing new things, adapting to challenges, and pushing beyond the surface.
Art is my therapy, my energizer, and my expression of how I see and experience the world.
I love it when people tell me that my art somehow moved them - a thought or emotion real to the beholder.
I love the depth and character of wall sculpture. I particularly love to work with ordinary objects, allowing them to transform in an extraordinary way.
This journey never ceases to surprise and challenge me.
